It’s been an invigorating few months “in between” jobs. I’ve been exploring, connecting, building my network, and searching for the next big issue to put my energy into. I can’t recommend this enough—taking your time to choose the right match for you, rather than just chasing your next paycheck. I planned ahead, built a buffer, and it was one of the best periods of my professional career.
I spent a lot of time writing—including some new music too. I’ve been writing a regular column for The EdTech Times called “The Good Content Series,” which is focused on helping (and inspiring) educators to share their classroom materials more widely.
I’ve been doing a lot of advising—for investors and startups (there’s a huge ed tech community here in Boston) and for a few independent authors, too. Specifically, I’ve been a mentor for a few up-and-coming companies in the LearnLaunchX startup accelerator program, and a general advisor for Exponential Boston. I’ve also been serving as content strategy advisor for The EdTech Times, which includes a series editor role for “The Blurring Lines Series.”
The four years I spent at Flat World Knowledge left me addicted to startup culture, and spoiled me into requiring a mission in my work. When I left in March, I knew that I would not be satisfied just looking for a job. The job had to involve an interesting problem to solve. Libboo is that, for sure.
For more about my new role at Libboo, see the CV page (on this site) or my LinkedIn profile and stay tuned for more updates on my progress!
