Songwriter Showcase Series: Evan Greer & Michael Boezi
September 9 @ 8:00 pm - 11:00 pmFree
This is the eighth show of my monthly residency at The Square Root in Roslindale, where local songwriters and performers present original songs in a stripped-down, low-key format. The focus is on songcraft and community – bringing people together in a safe, intimate setting for a set of enjoyable evenings once/month.
Doors at 8pm, Michael at 8:30, Evan at 9:30.
Evan Greer (she/her) is a trans/genderqueer activist singer/songwriter, parent, and organizer based in Boston. She writes and performs high-energy acoustic songs that inspire hope, build community, and incite resistance! Evan tours internationally as a musician and speaker, and facilitates interactive workshops to support movements for justice and liberation. Evan has collaborated, toured, and shared stages with artists as musically diverse as Pete Seeger, Against Me!, Talib Kweli, Tom Morello, Against Me!, Ted Leo & the Pharmacists, Michael Stipe, Amanda Palmer, Immortal Technique, Kimya Dawson, Thurston Moore, Hari Kondabolu, Billy Bragg, Pamela Means, Anti-Flag, Downtown Boys, The Coup, Anne Feeney, Oi Polloi, Dispatch, Dirty Projectors, Screaming Females, and Chumbawamba.
Evan is also currently the campaign director for Fight for the Future, the viral digital rights nonprofit behind the largest online protests in history. Evan writes regularly for The Guardian Time, Newsweek, and HuffPost, has been a guest on Good Morning America and All Things Considered, and has been interviewed about her music activism by the New York Times, Rolling Stone, TIME Magazine, Pitchfork, NBC News, Billboard, the Wall Street Journal, Spin Magazine, CBS News, Washington Post, Democracy Now!, The Atlantic, The Nation, CNN, Mother Jones, and (somehow!) even Fox News.
“Evan Greer is an eloquent and energetic writer. (S)he reminds me of Phil Ochs.”
—Howard Zinn, historian and author of A People’s History of the United States

These guests are curated from the diverse creative talent we have here in the local Boston music scene – some of the best and/or most promising local songwriters.
