Colleges had better get relevant, and quick. Sure—Gates, Jobs, and Zuckerberg were exceptional, and are held up consistently to construct the myth of what we can attain. Probably does more of a disservice than actually helping real people solve real problems.
But what are traditional institutions doing to create the next wave of exceptional talent? Are they training managers, or leaders?
Well, here’s another clarion call, from the NYT last week: Saying No to College.
I do love the quote from Benjamin Goering, a former student at University of Kansas:
“Education isn’t a four-year program. It’s a mind-set.”
Exceptional advice.
