ANNOUNCING LINEUP CHANGE: I can’t make it tonight because of you-know-why, but tonight’s show got an upgrade in that AVA SOPHIA will be subbing in for me.
Doors at 8 pm. This is FREE (21+) event – though we will of course accept cash/Venmo support on site.
These are free shows because I want them to feel like community events – where all are welcome to experience a nice, enjoyable night out. Please help us keep these events free by supporting the artists generously.
ALSO: Please give some extra support to The Square Root staff in the form of tips. These evenings only work if they work for EVERYONE who participates.

This is the third show of my monthly residency at The Square Root in Roslindale, where local songwriters and performers present original songs in a stripped-down, low-key format. The focus is on songcraft and community – bringing people together in a safe, intimate setting for a set of enjoyable evenings once/month.
Next up is Genie Santiago (she/her), a musician, poet, visual artist, community collaborator, and healer. Emerging from rough beginnings, her art draws from her experience growing up as a poor, Queer Latina and a survivor of sexual abuse. Her life and identity have inspired her mission to use her art to empower others to overcome trauma, decolonize the mind, promote sexual freedom, and stray from the ideals of self-hatred that society places upon us. Genie uses her art and platform to amplify the needs of BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and marginalized voices of her community.

About the series: Each night of the residency, I perform a solo set of original songs – and feature a guest songwriter/performer to perform a set too. These guests are curated from the diverse creative talent we have here in the local Boston music scene – some of the best and/or most promising local songwriters.
