teaching, college, content strategy, Emerson In my course at Emerson College, my students learn first hand about content strategy by applying it to a “live project” throughout the term. They choose the topic (though I have to approve it), and then build a set of content to teach others about that topic.

Many of them have some experience building websites, blogging, and social media – but what they learn here is how to pull everything together into a cohesive strategy. They always find it to be more challenging than they anticipate, and that was true of my students this term as well. You can see a list of everyone’s “live projects” below.

I also served as thesis advisor on two promising projects over the past year:

Alyssa Loebig / Yellow Taxi Press: A new publishing company to fill the gap between YA (Young Adult) and NA (New Adult).
Nicholas Moore / The Apparatus: A platform for citizen journalism, a project that was borne out of my Spring 2017 class.
