Songwriter Showcase Series: Year in Review

As 2022 draws to a close, I wanted to give thanks to all who participated in my monthly residency, the Songwriter Showcase Series. I didn’t know what I was doing when I started. I had never done a residency, let alone create a series of events. I had never written a grant proposal before. But I learned my way through it: Curating, booking, promoting, and hosting each night of the residency.

My instinct was: Get people in a room where there is art happening.

With the city arts grant, I was able to 1) pay the featured artists, 2) support the venue, and 3) keep these free-to-all community events.

In total, we put on 11 shows, and I got the privilege to play with some of Boston’s best indie musicians. Thank you and a high five to all my featured artists:

  1. Paul Willis @paulwillisishiphop
  2. Peter Fernandez @peterfernandez4
  3. Genie Santiago @genie.santiago
  4. Jessye DeSilva @jessyedmusic
  5. Ava Sophia @avasophiamusic
  6. Isabella & Issac (High Tea) @highteaband
  7. JU$T JILL @sillyjillyx3
  8. Evan Greer @thatevangreer
  9. Devin Ferreira @dfraps
  10. Grace Givertz @gracegivertz
  11. Chris Walton @senatorfudge

Special thanks to The Square Root (@sqrootrozzie) for providing a welcoming platform for such a series. Anthony and his staff, especially Dominic, Rae, Henry, & Buster. You guys are the best – and everyone in Roslindale is looking forward to you getting back on your feet very soon!

And thank you to Deborah Karson @deborahjkarsonphotography for shooting many of the events!

I’m not continuing the series in 2023 – please subscribe for updates. Connect: https://linktr.ee/mboezi
