I am a songwriter and performing artist in Boston, MA. I write and perform original songs in two formats: Solo and Band. See videos below for a sample of each format. I have 2+ hours of original material in each format.
Artist Statement
My goal is to create a nice evening for your patrons, full stop.
If you’ve booked me before, you know what I’m talking about. I play thoughtful, interesting songs – a little different than the standard, strummy folk format. I am charming and compelling on stage, and try to form a lasting connection with the audience. We have fun together.
If I haven’t played your venue before, I’m worth a try. If your venue has a draw, I am usually able to hold audience attention so that they’ll order another round of drinks. I always introduce myself around the room; and almost always attract post-show conversation. I want to get to know your patrons.
Please don’t ask me about my draw. No artist at my level (40-50 shows/year) can answer that question honestly or accurately. I’ve pulled as many as 100 ticketed (Feb 2023, Roslindale), and more recently 50 ticketed (Feb 2024, also in Roslindale). But of course I’ve also had dud nights too with a dozen people. Promo is a heavy lift every time with no guarantees.
All I can say is that I’m good to work with, I will promote the show really well, and I believe strongly that any successful evening has to work for all 3 parties – the audience, the artist(s), AND the venue. This means we work together to make a great night.

Solo Format
- Guitar & voice is busking, “electric folk” Billy Bragg style. Electric guitar, but clean, not loud.
- Dynamic, riff-based songs: Modern and topical, covering current challenges in our culture.
Duo Format
- Guitar, voice, and drums in a small combo for low-volume venues.
- Retains a singer-songwriter feel to it, while filling out the sound. Good placed as an opening act.

Michael Boezi writes and performs original songs about current challenges in the culture in a busking, “electric folk” Billy Bragg style. Michael’s music has drawn comparisons to Lord Huron, Andrew Bird, Johnny Marr, R.E.M., and Elvis Costello. He is currently releasing a series of singles featuring some of Boston’s best musicians as collaborators. They are available in all streaming platforms and Bandcamp under “Michael Boezi.”
