How do we know what’s real anymore? When we’re surrounded by things such as AI, chatbots, and deepfakes – it tests our senses. It’s disorienting, and our brains have to work harder than ever to discern what’s human and what’s not. That’s on purpose, of course. It makes urgent the trivial and unimportant to keep our attention focused away from the systems of power and oppression.
I wrote LIFELIKE as a sequel of sorts to Silicon in My Soul (released a few months ago), and I wanted it to have an old movie feel to it like you were watching history: What happened after the blast, where the “witness marks” serve as proof that we humans are still here.
