The focus is on songcraft and community – bringing people together in a safe\, intimate setting for a set of enjoyable evenings once/month. \nHigh Tea\, the indie-folk duo hailing from Boston MA\, is a concoction of sweepingly soulful harmonies\, guitar riffs to knock your socks off\, and a refreshing blend of old blues and new pop. SUMMARY:Art For All 3 at Aeronaut Brewery
DESCRIPTION:I put down my guitar for a few minutes to put on a fundraiser with my compatriots at Boston For All\, an activist group that runs a series of community events to raise money for organizations who are doing amazing on-the-ground work. \nArt For All is\, in my opinion\, our best event. Local artists offer their work in a unique art sale that lets you decide how much you’ll pay for original works. And whatever you decide to pay\, 100% of the money goes directly to La Colaborativa\, a Chelsea-based organization helping Latinx immigrants in all of the Boston area. \nIn 2019\, we raised over $12\,000 at Art For All 2 (also at Aeronaut)\, 100% of which went directly to BIJAN to help some of our most vulnerable neighbors detained in immigration prison. \nAbout the event: \n\nArt For All 3\nSunday\, May 15 12:00-3:00pm\nAeronaut Brewery: 14 Tyler St.\, Somerville\, MA\n\nMore about La Colaborativa\nLa Colaborativa empowers Latinx immigrants to enhance the social and economic health of our community and our people; and to hold institutional decision makers accountable to the community. DESCRIPTION:ANNOUNCING LINEUP CHANGE: I can’t make it tonight because of you-know-why\, but tonight’s show got an upgrade in that AVA SOPHIA will be subbing in for me.  \nDoors at 8 pm. This is FREE (21+) event – though we will of course accept cash/Venmo support on site.  \nThese are free shows because I want them to feel like community events – where all are welcome to experience a nice\, enjoyable night out. Please help us keep these events free by supporting the artists generously.  \nALSO: Please give some extra support to The Square Root staff in the form of tips. I am so sad that I can’t be there.  \n\nThis is the third show of my monthly residency at The Square Root in Roslindale\, where local songwriters and performers present original songs in a stripped-down\, low-key format. The focus is on songcraft and community – bringing people together in a safe\, intimate setting for a set of enjoyable evenings once/month. \nNext up is Genie Santiago (she/her)\, a musician\, poet\, visual artist\, community collaborator\, and healer. Emerging from rough beginnings\, her art draws from her experience growing up as a poor\, Queer Latina and a survivor of sexual abuse. Her life and identity have inspired her mission to use her art to empower others to overcome trauma\, decolonize the mind\, promote sexual freedom\, and stray from the ideals of self-hatred that society places upon us.
