UPDATE 5/15/15: This survey is now closed. Thank you to all who participated!
I’m conducting research on non-fiction authors, specifically about how they view the business of book publishing.
The role of an author has changed in the Shift to Digital, and I’d like to find out first-hand how that affects you. Would you be willing to share your experiences as a part of this study? The research will consist of a brief survey (click here to get started), which should take 10-15 min. It is not a paid study.
Why focus on non-fiction?
It’s no secret that the publishing industry is going to be using a lot more data to make better decisions. There has been a lot of quantitative research recently, but most of it is either 1) very general, as in “all authors,” or 2) focuses on fiction. My hypothesis is that non-fiction authors view the business differently than fiction authors. I’ve tested the initial hypothesis with qualitative research, and now I’m applying what Ive learned to more quantitative research.
- I’ve designed the survey to help you frame the issues around publishing. My hope is that you will get something out of it just by participating.
- This research will (hopefully!) help contribute to finding new solutions for today’s authors. I will share the results with you when I’m done.
There’s no sales pitch here, and the information you provide will remain confidential. Please feel free to share it with any and all non-fiction authors, using this link: http://mboezi.com/research.
Thank you for considering!
